GeoProof Alternatives and Comparisons
There are a lot of apps that print a location and a time onto a photo. They mostly agree on that part. Where they differ is what happens to the photo afterwards, what the app costs over a year, and whether you have to create an account before you can take the first picture.

How these pages are written
A comparison written by one of the two apps is worth reading only if you can tell where the line is between fact and sales copy. So the line is drawn explicitly:
- Claims about GeoProof are things we can state about our own app — how it handles photos, what it charges, what it exports.
- Claims about any other app are checked against that app's own store listing and privacy policy before they go on the page. If we have not checked it, the cell stays blank rather than being filled with a guess.
- Every comparison has a section on where the other app may suit you better. Not as a courtesy — an app that claims to win every row is telling you something about its honesty, not about its features.
You should also do the obvious thing and check the store listings yourself. Pricing and features change, these pages are dated, and neither we nor anyone else writing a comparison page is a neutral party.
What to compare on
Whichever app you land on, the questions worth asking are the same ones:
Before you commit a season of job photos to an app
- Where do the photos go? Some apps upload to their own servers. That may be fine for you — it is a different arrangement from photos that never leave the phone, and it is worth knowing which one you picked.
- What does it cost over twelve months? A subscription and a one-time unlock look similar in the store and very different in March.
- Is the stamp in the pixels or in the metadata? Metadata is stripped by email, portals and messaging apps. A stamp drawn into the image survives all of it, including a screenshot.
- Does it work with no signal? GPS comes from satellites, so coordinates usually do. Turning them into a street address needs a connection.
- Can you get the photos out? Into a PDF, into an email, into your own storage — without the app in the middle.
